Moto Z Play Emerges in Photos, Follows Along the Moto Z Design

One of the most noticeable changes to the Moto Z Play is the new position of the Moto logo on the front. Moving it to the top of the panel gives the bottom chin a smaller appearance. The square fingerprint sensor still exists in its square form.

The back of the device looks like it could be made of either glass or clear plastic. Since the Moto Z Play is to be the cheaper alternative to the Moto Z, we wouldn’t be surprised if it was plastic. The distinguishing factor on the back is the different coloring for the Mod connection pins.
There is no new info on the specs of the device, but we did have some from the last time the phone made an appearance. The Moto Z Play, codename Vertex, will sport a 5.5″ FHD AMOLED display. The SoC in this phone will be the Snapdragin 625 clocked @2.4GHz. The phone will come in a 16GB internal storage + 2GB RAM option and another 32GB internal + 3GB RAM option. The camera on the device will be a 16MP shooter with laser autofocus and PDAF, and the battery capacity will be a healthy 3,500 mAh. Since the specs are not flagship level, the device will be priced lower than the Moto Z. And since the magnetic pins for the Mods do make an appearance, one can expect cross compatibility. This would make the Moto Z Play a cheaper option for those that want to try out Moto/Lenovo’s vision for modularity.
Let’s hope the Moto Z Play does not disappoint with the pricing.

Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime review: The budget battery king

Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime has a fingerprint scanner on the back.
In Xiaomi’s case, the battery lives up to the claims. In the GeekBench 3 battery test, the phone was still at 51 per cent seven hours into the test, and I was listening to music, getting notifications, etc on the phone. From what I’ve observed, most phones are down to 20 per cent if you run GeekBench for 7 straight hours.

Redmi 3S Prime Specs: 5-inch HD display | Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor at 1.4 Ghz | 3GB RAM+32GB storage (expandable to 128 GB ) | 13 MP rear camera + 5 MP front camera | MIUI 7 on Android M | 4100 mAh battery
Redmi 3S Price: Rs 8,999 for 3GB RAM+ 32GB storage/ Rs 6,999 for 2GB RAM+16GB storage
Redmi 3S Prime/Redmi 3S is a smaller version of the Redmi Note 3, and yet you can’t help but wonder: How can this 5-inch phone have a slightly larger battery compared to the Note 3? (4100 vs 4050 mAh). The Redmi 3S shows it is possible to bring good design and specifications at a budget.
The full metal unibody design and frame on the side with the slightly curved back means the phone fits easily in your hand. The camera lens is on the left corner with the fingerprint scanner being bang in middle of the rear cover, and the speakers are also at the back. One look at the phone and you are likely to say: Redmi 3S Prime is a copy of the Redmi Note 3, which might not be such a bad thing for Xiaomi. It shows a certain standard across design, which has come to define the company’s products.

Android N update: when will I get it?

Google Nexus Android N update schedule

March 9: Android N developer preview 1 (alpha)
April 13: Android N developer preview 2 (alpha)
May 18: Android N developer preview 3 (beta)
June 15: Android N developer preview 4 (with final APIs and SDK)
July 18: Android N developer preview 5 (near-final build)
August/September: Final Android 7.0 AOSP build

The Android N developer preview 5 is now available for Nexus devices enrolled in the Android Beta Program. If you haven’t yet received the update, just head to Settings > About Phone > System Updates > Check for Updates to force the OTA. The factory images are also up on the Android Developers site if you prefer to do it that way (or if you flashed the first preview before realizing how easy the Beta Program is).
The monthly Android N updates were only available for the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C, General Mobile 4G (Android One) and Sony Xperia Z3 (D6603 and D6653). We’ve added information below for other manufacturers based on how long it took OEMs to get Marshmallow out following the release of Android 6.0 in September last year.

Motorola Android 7.0 update

Moto owners will likely still get the Motorola Android 7.0 update a lot earlier than most, despite now being owned by Lenovo rather than Google. The Moto X Pure Edition got its first U.S. update to Marshmallow on December 7, 2015, but that was the unlocked version not slowed down by the addition of carrier bloatware and “optimization”.
With this in mind, Moto owners could be the first non-Nexus owners to see Android 7.0 in 2016, even beating out the LG G5. However, we’re yet to see how a Lenovo-owned Motorola handles software updates. At the very least we know the new near-stock Moto devices will run both the Android N and Android O releases.
Best case scenario: A little over a month after Android 7.0 arrives (early December 2016)

Xiaomi Android 7.0 update

Xiaomi had a pretty bad case of the hiccups when it came to the Marshmallow update, so it may not be entirely representative to base assumptions about the Xiaomi Android 7.0 update based on its most recent update performance. Despite announcing Marshmallow was in the final stages of testing back in December 2015, it wasn’t until early April that the Mi 4, Mi 3 and Mi Note finally got Android 6.0.
In the worst case scenario, Xiaomi suffers similar problems with Android 7.0 and users won’t see it until six months after Google releases it. In the best case scenario, Xiaomi meets its timeline and has the update out in late December 2016 or early January 2017.
Best case scenario: Two or three months after Google (December 2016 – January 2017)

Google’s New Project Could Change the Future of Smartphones

But only if it's not too confusing

Google wants make modifying your smartphone as easy as rearranging Lego blocks
That’s the premise of Project Ara, a plan to make phones with parts that can be easily snapped on and off, allowing for an unprecedented level of customization. Google first unveiled the concept roughly two years ago. After a series of fits and starts, Google is now promising that consumers will be able to buy the first Ara phone sometime next year.
The idea might sound far-fetched, but consider this: What if you could just replace your phone’s camera instead of paying hundreds to upgrade to an entirely new device? Or what if you were able to add more powerful speakers to your phone when watching a movie or listening to Spotify? Some parts will be off-limits for swapping — the processor, for instance. But Ara phones will still allow for intriguing possibilities.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7

the company’s Android smartphone geared towards productivity, will launch today. Samsung is holding simultaneous events in New York City, London and Brazil to announce the next Galaxy Note device. Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has been revealed in several leaks already. Now a recent reports suggest Galaxy Note 7 will launch in India on August 11, just a week after global announcement.
With Galaxy Note 7, Samsung is keeping the number scheme around its flagship devices more uniform. Samsung is skipping Note 6 in favour of Note 7, which fits well with the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge series and makes more marketing sense. Samsung Galaxy Note 7 this year promises to put more emphasis on S Pen, and we could also see more utilities for S Pen gestures. Here is everything we know so far about the device:
Design and Display: The rumour indicates Samsung will launch Galaxy Note 7 with dual edge display, similar to the Galaxy S7 range. In 2014, Samsung had announced Galaxy Note 4 Edge which had a single edge display, but with the Note 5, we didn’t get any ‘edge display’ version.  While some rumours point at Samsung launching a regular version of Note 7, the chances of that are low.
With the dual-edge curved display, Galaxy Note 7 won’t be very different from Galaxy S7 edge. Samsung Galaxy S7 edge is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful smartphones available right now, and with Note 7, the company could just add another one to the lineup. A press render revealed by @onleaks comparing Galaxy S7 edge and Note 7 edge shows S7 edge is more curvier than Note 7. The Note 7 will be square in shape, and will have a dimensions similar to Galaxy Note 5.
Samsung  Galaxy Note 7 is reportedly launching with 5.7-inch QHD AMOLED display, and we can expect sharp and vibrant colours. However, this means there’s not much change on the display side compared to the earlier Note 5.

Let us take a look at how what other telecoms are offering in terms of data packs and tariffs in Delhi/NCR:

Vodafone 3G/4G (28 days validity)
1GB – Rs 255
2GB – Rs 455
3GB – Rs 655
5GB – Rs 855
6GB – Rs 955
7.5GB – Rs 1097
9GB – Rs 1255
Airtel 3G/4G (28 days validity)
3GB – Rs 455
5GB – Rs 655
6GB – Rs 755
7GB – Rs 855
10GB – Rs 989
Idea 3G/4G (28 days validity)
2 GB – Rs 349
5 GB – Rs 649
10 GB – Rs 990
Aircel 3G/4G (30 days validity)
2GB – Rs 399
3GB – Rs 599
4GB – Rs 799
5GB – Rs 995
2GB – Rs 1399
10GB – Rs 1849
Airtel has the advantage here at Rs 989 when it comes to 10GB 3G/4G prepaid data plans with Idea very close at Rs 990 for 10GB. Vodafone’s 9GB pack costs Rs 1,255, which shouldn’t come as a surprise as the company has not announced any price-cuts on its data plans as of now.
Airtel, again offers a good deal with its 3GB data pack costing Rs 455. The competition remains tough for Vodafone and Aircel as their tariff seems to be the highest at the moment. We can’t say if this data war will lead to users changing their operators; but the competition sure is getting more intense day by day.

Le Eco

A couple of phones were launched recently with an extraordinarily large 6 GB RAM capacity, LeEco Max 2 and OnePlus 3. (For perspective, the laptop from which this article is being written has 4 GB RAM.) But even that seems to be not quite enough for the Chinese phone-maker LeEco, which is now going to launch a new 8 GB RAM device.
The likely launch date is 29 June. The phone will have either of the Qualcomm's latest chipset, Snapdragon 821 or 823 and a 25 MP rear camera.
LeEco is planning to price the phone at around 3000 Yuans (around ₹ 30,000). The company is on a phone launching spree, with 3 new smartphones launched in China recently.

Apple iOS 10 Beta

Apple started rolling out the iOS 10 public beta, or second version of the developer preview, late last week. After a bit of contemplation I have decided to take the plunge and upgrade the iPhone 6s Plus to the latest version of the Apple mobile OS.
Over the next few days I will chronicle my experience with iOS 10. Below we look at the latest addition in iMessage, Contacts, and Notifications.

LG X Screen: The best looking phone at this price

LG X Screen certainly scores high on the looks department, and offers some unique features, but for India’s users will that be enough to impress?

LG X Screen priced at Rs 12,990 has been launched in India as a Snapdeal exclusive and will start selling from July 20.

For LG, the X Series are the new budget smartphones, which offer features seen on premium devices of the company. With the X screen, users get the ‘Always On’ display and Dual- Display on top, a feature which was part of the more premium V10 smartphone. LG first debuted the new X screen and X cam smartphones at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this February.
So what does the dual display feature mean? LG X screen has a 4.93-inch HD in-cell touch display as well as 1.76 inch secondary display right on top. This second screen — as LG calls it — shows the last four recently accessed apps, settings app, music app, and lets users answer calls without interrupting current activity. It’s kind of like a strip on top of the regular display, where these apps appear. Users cannot change or determine which apps will show in this secondary screen.

Gionee M6, world’s most secure smartphone, to launch on July 26

The encryption chip inside Gionee M6 will provide users with double protection for their data.

Gionee is set to launch M6 smartphone that will feature an encrypted chip inside the it. The chip will protect the data stored inside the phone with encryption, which includes call records, photos, documents, notes and other information. Gionee claims the data will be securely protected in a way that no other phone can currently match.
“Despite its efficacy, Apple’s Touch ID is still lacking when it comes to what is stored on the smartphone – as soon as someone manages to pass through the lock screen, information can be freely viewed,” says Gionee.
According to Gionee, the encryption chip will provide users with double protection for their data. This means the protected data can neither be seen in case a user decides to hide it or if the Android system gets hacked.

Gionee M6 will be officially announced on July 26.
Sirin Labs, in April, launched Solarin – which is also one of the most expensive Android smartphones. Solarin was launched with security as its primary focus. The smartphone, which costs $14,000, claims to be fully-secure.

Samsung Exynos...

Exynos is manufactured by Samsung based on ARM architecture.
.
.
Samsung from the beginning, was well known for manufacturing processors for other manufactures which includes A4, A5, A5X processors (designed by Apple, but fabricated by Samsung) for Apple devices. With the emergence of smartphone and tablet market, Samsung decided to create its own brand of processors. Some of the popular models are Exynos 3 single (included in Samsung Galaxy S), Exynos 4 Dual (dual core) and Exynos 4 Quad core (quad core). The latest Quad core is included in Samsung Galaxy S lll. Presence of quad core in Slll makes it easier to multitask, switch between applications and play HD videos smoothly and without any glitch. The future versions of Samsung devices will be equipped with this processor.
Qualcomm Snapdragon S4...
.
.
.
Qualcomm considers Snapdragon as a platform and very similar to ARM architecture. Snapdragon dubbed their product series as Scorpion. They have gone through S1, S2, S3 and the latest S4 series.
Snapdragon is the chip of choice for Windows Phone and preferred by manufactures like HTC and Nokia. Qualcomm’s dual core chip is highly efficient to the extent that while benchmarking, its performance stood almost equivalent to quad core. Another feature that stood out is efficient battery life which can be attributed to the chips design. The latest series S4 introduce latest quad core technology. With quad core variant of S4 recently introduced, this processor is going to rock smartphone and tablet market.
Qualcomm Snapdragon are the best for better battery life and if you like playing HD movies.
Intel Atom...
.
.
.
processor is manufactured by Intel. It is based on X86 architecture rather than ARM system. Intel is now serious about conquering mobile device market. The latest version of Atom processors are different from the ones seen on netbooks. The smartphone version has improved performance speed and less power consumption. Atom processors are good in rendering web pages and playing web based games and videos. Recently Atom processors were made Android compatible. With improved performance and because of recent changes, we can see more decent number of handsets in the future from their partners Motorola and Orange.

Intel Atom processors are the best choice for using web based applications on Smartphones and Tablets.
